Artist:Katori Masahiko 香取正彦 (1899-1988)
Description: Large open bronze vase.

Born in Sakura City in Chiba Prefecture. He studied at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts with another famous bronze artist, Tsuda Shinobu. He graduated in 1925, when he also participated in the Paris Art Deco Expo where he won a prize. He contributed to the Teiten for many years. After WWII he worked with the Japanese government to protect and repair Buddhist statues and artifacts, he made numerous bells for temples throughout Japan. In 1977 he was declared a Living National Treasure.
