Bizan was born in Kanazawa in 1874 and studied under Tanaka Hatsutaro and Takahashi Koji. As an independent artist he worked in Osaka. He exhibited at every Teiten from 1929 through 1934, then again at the Bunten and Shinbunten in 1936, 1937 and 1941, and at the Hoshukuten in 1940.
