Description: A picture of Rochishin in a drunken rage demolishing a guardian statue (Kongōjin) on Mount Godai (Rochishin ransui Godaisan Kongōjin o uchikowasu no zu) Published by Hasegawa Tsunejiro 1 September 1887. Rochishin is one of the 108 heroes of the Tales of the water margin (Jp: Suikoden). Before Rochishin became a bandit he was a village police, but after he accidentally killed a man he turned to Buddhism. He moves to a monastery on Mount Godai but is unable to live the life of a monk. Since he cannot return to his old life he joins a group of bandits. One of his first acts is the siege on a temple where other thieves are hiding. Here he is shown demolishing the temple gate, with the Buddhist guardian (Kongōjin) statue behind him.
