Chokunyu worked in Kyoto, pupil of Tanomura Chikuden(1777-1835). First director of the Kyoto Municipal School of Fine Arts and Crafts, founder of the Nihon Nanga Kyokai. Juror for many exhibitions, with many pupils. It is likely that the left painting was in the collection of Chokunyu’s pupil and he drew a companion scene in his very old age. |
