The books can be dated between c. 1673-1688. Nara ehon (Nara picture books) are handwritten illustrated books produced in the late-Muromachi and early-Edo period.
3 vols. complete, each approx. 24 x 18 cm, tetchōsō 綴葉装 type binding (multisection book), with brocade covers, in wooden box with the title inscribed in gold ‘Sumiyoshi monogatari (住吉物語)’

Vol. 2 (中) - 50 pages, including 5 single-page illustrations, and 1 double-page illustration
