He was an apprentice of the famous Kattori Shushin (Katori Hozuma 1874-1954) after graduating in 1921, and studied design in the Kawabata Art School, after which he graduated in 1933 from the Tokyo University of Fine Art. Before graduating he was accepted to the Teiten National Exhibition, where he consistently exhibited and received awards throughout his career, eventually becoming a Teiten judged and governor. Hara Naoki also taught at his Alma-mater, helping successive generations of artist. He stopped working due to health issues in 1978 and was granted the Order of Cultural Merit in 1979. | | | |
