Description: Small bronze vase with murashido. Murashido is a dipping technique used after firing. Oil is poured on the hot bronze and then exposed to rice straw smoke, creating a beautiful swirling patina effect. With original box, signed ‘Hirobei saku’ (made by Hirobei), with artist seal.

Reference:Sano Hiroyuki (gō name Kōsai 宏采) specializes in copperware and metal engraving and currently resides in Takaoka.He has won many prestigious awards, prizes and exhibited his works many times. In 1964 he became an apprentice under his father 甚吉, studying metal carving. In 1967 he won the Toyama Traditional Crafts award, winning it six times total.The following year he was first selected to exhibit his work at the prestigious national and state-sponsored Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition (Nihon Dentō Kogeiten), he would be selected 29 more times. In 1970 at the Nitten he was selected for metalwork, later on 13 more awards would follow. In 1974 he was certified as a member of the Japan Crafts Association. After winning many awards and exhibiting often in Takaoka, he became the president of the Takaoka Metal Engraving Association in 1998. In 2010 he was honoured by the city with the title ‘person of distinguished service’. In 2018 he received the Order of the Sacred Treasure,Silver Rays.
