Description: Black lacquer tebako (box to keep valuables) decorated with camellia flowers in red lacquer, with beautiful gold maki-e detailing, the leaves done in green lacquer with veins in gold, golden nashiji (lacquering technique using fine gold powder) in the tips of the leaves. Interior of the box and the bottom of the box decorated with gold nashiji. Unidentified artist, Wajima lacquerware artisan (Wajima is known for its hiqh quality lacquerware). With original box signed with artist seal, on the lid it reads ‘Wajima nuri tebako maki-e’ (wajima lacquer tebako, maki-e).
