Artist:Yokokura Kazan 横倉嘉山 (1915-1984)
Description: Round flat vase with elegant minimalistic design of chiselled away specks of green bronze . No box. C. 1950. *Yokokura Kazan was born and worked in Yamagata Prefecture. He exhibited and won various prizes at the Nitten - amongst which are the Tokusen and Hokuto prizes at the Nitten Exhibition (1959)-, and in 1966 even became a Nitten judge. Besides winning various awards in Japan, his work also received awards abroad, including the prize of the Minister for International Trade and Industry at the Art of Tea and Flower Vessel Exhibition (1958), and a Grand Prix at the World Exposition in Brussels (1959). His works were also exhibited at the Japan Modern Arts and Crafts Exhibition from 1961-1965 and five works of which were selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to exhibit in the US, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand as well as at the International Art Festival in Berlin.In 1972 , as requested by Yamagata City, he made a commissioned work for the Crown Prince.
