Depicted are five of the seven pants of autumn: the Chinese bellflower, pampas grass, bush clover, maiden flower and boneset. Black lacquer interior and bottom. The Kinrin-ji shape natsume is named after Kinrin temple. Legend says emperor Godaigo prepared tea for a monk in the mountains and to do so made a tea container from mountain ivy, naming it ‘kinrin-ji’. With original signed box.

*Lacquer artist, from 1968 onward known as lacquer maki-e artisan specializing in natsume and kōgō. Has won a prize from the Lacquer Association and won a prize at the Japan Crafts Exhibition. Working and residing in Fukui in Fukui prefecture.
