Undercoat of black lacquer, which is adorned by seigaiha (waves) pattern in gold lacquer. Top of the lid is decorated with a cartouche with gold outline, with a sansui landscape (water and rocks, and in this case also two houses) all executed in gold lacquer. On the sides of the natsume three gold-outlines cartouches, with black lacquer backdrop. The designs are all executed in gold raised lacquer: grass with a small moon with inlaid-mother of pearl, plovers flying above a wild sea and birds flying above nets. Interior of gold nashiji (sprinkled gold).
