Artist:Kishi Chikudō 竹堂 岸 (1826-1897)
Description: Tiger. Painted in 1854 for the Imperial palace.

Pupil of Kano Eigaku (1790-1867) and Kishi Renzan (1805-1859). Particularly specialized in painting tigers. In his life Chikudo, Mori Kansai (1814-1894) and Kono Bairei (1844-1895) were regarded as the three great painters of Kyoto.

Condition:Silk. Waterstain in the top right corner of the mounting. Small stain within the upper part of the image. Slight damage to the left and right edges of the mounting.
