Description: An ‘imitation’ calligraphy. The work suggests a calligraphy but it just imitates a character, and is thus abstract art, mounted in a traditional way. Sesson was born in Hyōgo prefecture. His given name was Takeo 武夫. He also used the art name Rikkō. He studied under the calligrapher Ueda Sōkyu 上田桑鳩(1899-1968) and together they founded Keiseikai in Tokyo in 1940. Keiseikai was an avant-garde calligraphy group, which is still active today. The group exhibits annually as well as participating in the Mainichi Calligraphy Exhibition. With new box.
