Description: Triptych titled ‘Flowers of Edo’ 江戸花. Each panel features a couple: to the left and right we see a courtesan enticing a (potential) customer. The middle panel shows a couple holding hands, the father giving their child a piggyback ride. Dynamic and lively atmosphere suggested by the many dark silhouettes in the background. Red splattered pigment and beautiful woodblock grain pattern visible throughout all panels. Published by Kaijudō in November 1862. Carved by Matsushima Horimasa.
Signed:on each sheet ‘Kunisada ga’ in toshidama cartouche.
