Description: Lithograph titled Storage shed #2 (Monookigoya #2). Edition 23/100, published in 1986. *Tanaka Ryōhei was born in Takatsuki City outside of Osaka. Ryōhei began studying etching under Professor Yoshio Furuno in 1963. He became a member of the Kyoto Etchers Group in 1964. Two years later, he began exhibiting with the Japan Print Association and became a full member in 1973. His detailed etchings focus on rural Japan and have a tranquil atmosphere. The majority are in black and white, some feature colour. These landscapes include farmsteads, temples and many traditional thatched roofs. Tanaka Ryōhei was inspired by Kyoto and surrounding areas, and based his work on sketches. These studies in combination with his technical skill result in etchings with life-like textures and meticulous detail. Ryōhei has won numerous awards in Japan, Europe and the United States.
