Description: Saga Moor moon (Sagano no tsuki) from the series One hundred aspects of the moon (Tsuki hyakushi). Published by Akiyama Buemon in 1891. Minamoto no Nakakuni is playing his flute in answer to the koto playing of heroine Kogo no Tsubone (1159-1180). Tsubone, a beautiful and skilled koto player and the concubine of emperor Takakura, was threatened to be killed by the Taira clan and had fled to a remote cottage in Saga. Nakakuni had been sent to find her and has succeeded by hearing and recognizing her koto play.
