Description: A beautiful neo-nanga style landscape of a man in a boat. Painting on silk with a poem in top left. Painted in february 1919.

Shikai was one of the fringe nanga artists who developed his own, somewhat eerie style. He was inspired by Tanomura Chikuden and Maeda Mokuho, from which he took his unusual colour use.
