Depicted is a flowering plum branch and a booklet of the eho (lucky directions), an almanac displaying fortunes for coming year. These booklets were published around New Year and a popular form of fortune telling. Included was the direction of the Toshitokujin, the deity of one’s lucky direction, but also included the prosperous dates for major events such as weddings.
