*The Kyoto artist Shōmin was an important figure in the Showa period metalwork. His genius in the craft became apparent early in his career. He was consistently displayed at the Bunten/Teiten/Nitten National Exhibitions from 1941, where he was later honoured as a judge, and received the Hokusho Prize.
