Artist:Kasai Taizō (b.1922)
Description: Bronze spout vase decorated with gold and silver inlays in a geometric design. With signed original box. *Kasai Taizō was born in Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture, where he has worked throughout his life. He was first accepted into the Nitten in 1950. In 1952, he exhibited at the California exposition. In 1963 and 1970, his Nitten entries won the tokusen or grand prize. In 1971, he was commissioned to make a flower vase for the Imperial Household Agency. Taizō exhibited in a metal art exhibition in West Germany in 1976, and in 1989, he won the Minister of Education prize at the Nihon Gendai Kogei Bijutsuten (Japan Contemporary Craft Art Exhibition). Kasai Taizō is currently a member of the Nitten committee.
