*Born in Kyoto in 1935. Studied under two lacquerware artisans from 1955 onward. The artist is also known as Heian 平安, which the artist uses to sign his work . He received his artist name Hyōsei in 1975 from his master. Since then he has been exhibiting frequently, both in solo and group shows.
