Clearly visible reference to the Rinpa-school style in the swirling gold lines and stylized portrayal of nature. Signed on the bottom in gold lacquer: ‘Ichiryō’. With signed cloth: Ichiryō with artist’s seal Ichiryō.
With original box, signed ‘Ichiryō’ with artist’s seal ‘Ichiryō’. Inscription reads: Chinese clematis flower, Riykū shape, middle sized natsume (Tessen hana Rikyū-gata, chū-natsume).
*His style is inspired by Rinpa-school artist Sakai Hōitsu (1761-1829) and is characterized by bold colour usage and playful compositions. He exhibited eleven times at the prestigious state sponsored Nitten exhibition, the first time being in 1947.
