*Yakumonuri Yamamoto is a lacquerware shop located in Matsue city, founded in 1887 by Kazunari Yamamoto. It has helped to carry on the traditional craft of Yakumo-nuri lacquer. Yakumo-nuri uses fine natural transparent lacquer (suki-urushi) over patterns and pictures drawn with coloured lacquer on a lacquered base. After applying the transparent lacquer, the next step of polishing (roiro togi) makes the motif radiantly jump out.
