Inner lid, red lacquer monogram by Sen Sōshitsu XV (b.1923) (Zen title Hōunsai) , the 15th generation Grand Master of the Urasenke school of tea ceremony.

*Born in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture in 1948, his real name being Yoshio. In the same year as he was born, his father Issai I founded Chiyahira Lacquerware shop, becoming Wajima’s first lacquerware specialist for tea utensils.
