Description: Black lacquer natsume decorated with two flying goose in gold raised lacquer. Interior and bottom of gold nashiji (sprinkled gold) and decorated with akikusa (autumn plants, a common design motif in Japanese art) in gold lacquer. Body of the natsume is decorated with common reeds in gold lacquer and gold flakes, with a nice fade out from black to gold in the background. With original signed box, inscription reads: common reeds (ashi) wild goose (gan) pattern (mon) maki-e natsume. Signed: on bottom natsume made by Inafune (Inafune saku), on box Inafune plus seal. *Wajima lacquer maki-e artisan. From 1973 studied under lacquerware artisan Tasaki Shōichirō 田崎昭一郎 (b.1931). In 1979 his work was first accepted to the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, after which he exhibited there eight times. In 1982 he graduated from the Ishikawa Prefecture Wajima Traditional Lacquer Techniques Research Centre. Won the encouragement prize from the Japan Lacquer Crafts Association.
