Description: Tsuda Eiju 津田永寿(1915-2001) Bronze belly vase, with a decorative handle in the shape of a leaf on the slender short neck. The general shape brings to mind an apple. With original signed box, inscription reads: cast bronze, decorative ear/handle, vase (idō kazaru mimi, hanaire) *Tsuda Eiju (1915-2000) is considered the most important bronze manufacturer in the second half of the 20th century. Eiju was the adopted son and successor of the imperial artist Tsuda Daiju (1875-1946). He studied under Shinobu Tsuda (1875-1946) and later inherited the Tsuda family name. During his illustrious career Eiju exhibited his works many times and received various awards including the Crafts Exhibition Export Award, The Ministry of Commerce and Industry Arts and Crafts Exhibition Award, The Metal Casting Masterpiece Award and The 5th Nitten (The Japan Fine Art Exhibition) Special Hokuto Award. He was a member of the Imperial Art Academy and member of the Fukuhima Art Exhibition jury and professor
