Description: No.44, Sanshū, Snow at Okazaki, Disponsing of Lady Tsukiyama, from the series Snow moon and flowers (Setsugekka). Published by Kobayashi Tetsujirō, 11 March 1884. Lady Tsukiyama (1542-1579), adopted daughter of Imagawa Yoshimoto (1519-1560), military governor of Sanshū, Mikawa Pronvince, was married in 1557 for political alliance reasons to Tokugawa Ieyasu (1542-1616), who was born at Okazaki Castle but was now in the custody of Yoshimoto. In the wars for control of central Japan, Lady Tsukiyama was thought to have plotted with warriors of the Takeda clan against her husband, was accused of espionage, arrested and eventually executed by Ietsu.
