Endo Morito is shown here with his sword drawn, ready to murder the husband of Kesa Gozen. His affection for Gozen is one-sided and - despite the fact that she is already married - Morito harasses her until she agrees to his advances on the condition that he murders her husband. Little does he know that she has cut her hair and has taken her husband’s place in bed, thus saving her honor and sacrificing herself. Unaware of the ‘trap’ she has set up, Morito ends up killing the woman he is so infatuated with.
